How
to Join Girl Scouting
Girl Scouting is a great way for girls to grow
strong!
Membership as a Girl Scout is granted to any girl age 5 to 17 who has
made the Girl Scout Promise and accepted the Girl Scout Law, has paid the
annual membership dues, and meets the applicable membership standards.
Girls who reside within central Pennsylvania may register with Hemlock Girl
Scout Council.* All girls are welcome in Girl Scouting, regardless of
race, color, ethnicity, creed, national origin, social economic status or
disability.
Once a girl joins, she is placed in a local troop of the appropriate
age level:
Daisy Girl Scout (ages 5-6 or kindergarten to first grade)
Brownie Girl Scout (ages 6-8 or grades 1-3)
Junior Girl Scout (ages 8-11 or grades 3-6)
Cadette Girl Scout (ages 11-14 or grades 6-9)
Senior Girl Scout (ages 14-17 or grades 9-12)
There is an annual membership fee is $7. Financial assistance is
available. Adults may register annually for $7, or as a lifetime member
for $175.
Senior Girl Scouts who are graduating from high
school can take advantage of a one-time reduced lifetime membership fee of
$91 (regularly $175.)
A new troop year begins each September, but girls may register at any
time. If you do not reside within central Pennsylvania, simply look for
the Girl Scout council nearest you.
