| The Girl Scout program can change the way girls see the world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment. The Girl Scout program is based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law and four fundamental goals that encourage girls to:
- Develop to their full potential.
- Relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect.
- Develop a meaningful set of values to guide their actions and to provide for sound decision-making.
- Contribute to the improvement of society.
Girl Scouts are divided into Daisy Girl Scouts (ages 5-6), Brownie Girl Scouts (ages 6-8), Junior Girl Scouts (ages 8-11), and STUDIO 2B or Senior Girl Scouts for girls ages 11-17.
Membership as a Girl Scout is granted to any girl age 5 to 17 who has made the Girl Scout Promise and accepted the Girl Scout Law, has paid the annual membership dues, and meets the applicable membership standards. Girls who reside within central Pennsylvania may register with Hemlock Girl Scout Council. All girls are welcome in Girl Scouting, regardless of race, color, ethnicity, creed, national origin, social economic status or disability.
There is an annual membership fee is $10. Financial assistance is available. Adults may register annually for $10, or as a lifetime member for $250.
A new troop year begins each September, but girls may register at any time. If you do not reside within central Pennsylvania, simply look for the Girl Scout council nearest you. For more information on becoming a Girl Scout or volunteer within Hemlock Girl Scout Council, call or write to us
